REST IS IMPORTANT, BUT WHY?

Some of us pay a lot of attention to our body, which is a very good habit indeed. We try to build up strength, pay attention to fitness, work on endurance, and sometimes work on bulking up as well. A lot of physical activities are required to get results on the above mentioned fields. Many of us indulge ourselves and do nothing by halves, and for some of us it just reaches the fever pitch. But after some time we just run out of steam and we require a period of rest to regain the same energy level and enthusiasm and to recover our body to carry out the same physical activities once again. Here we have a closer look at how rest is beneficial for our body.

·      Building strength:
As the saying goes “until you are broken, you don’t know what you are made of. It gives you the ability to build yourself all over again, but stronger than ever”……
After loads of physical activities muscles often undergo micro traumas, these micro traumas eventually get healed up on their own after rest. The tissue get repaired and becomes stronger than it was before. Now the muscle is able to carry more amount of stress, more than what it used to. And the body is ready for the upcoming challenge.

·      Promoting healing:
Most of us have a high work load, every day following the same routine. The body carries out multiple physical activities and the energy which is provided for the body to function is interdependent. The physical, emotional, cardiovascular balance of the body enables it to keep going. At rest, this energy is concentrated to the healing process and enhances it as the energy at rest is not required much for any other area of the body.

·      Keeping calm:
“The mind and body are not separated, what affects one affects the other”……
One of the most important roles of rest is to keep calm. Rest provides a lot of improvement to the physical as well as the mental state of an individual.
Until we rest our mind, we cannot get ourselves ready for the next level challenge. It helps us to encourage ourselves to regain focus and energy. The mind and the body should maintain a balance with each other for better results.

There are several ways to keep our mind and body in a resting state, my way of keeping my body and mind at rest is to read or sleep. You can have your own ways of taking rest like yoga, meditation, hot baths, and body massage etc. listening to the music also is a way of resting mind for some.  Give yourself intervals and breaks frequently to regain the lost energy and come back even stronger.

Take Care.
